Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of SureStartJobs at surestartjobs.co.uk. By creating an account and using the platform — for job advertising, as a recruitment tool, or for applying for jobs — you accept all SureStartJobs terms and conditions. Different sections apply to candidates, employers, and recruitment agencies.

1. Definitions

“Platform” means surestartjobs.co.uk and any related services. “Candidate”, “Employer”, and “Agency” mean the corresponding account types. “Affiliate” or “Affiliated Company” means any company that directly or indirectly controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with Sure Start Jobs Ltd, including any current or future group companies. “Account Type” means a category of Platform account with specific permissions, functionality, workflows, or access rights determined by SureStartJobs.

The Platform supports multiple Account Types with different permissions and functionality. Certain features, workflows, integrations, administrative tools, and recruitment services are available only to specific users, verified organisations, Affiliated Companies, or users operating under separate commercial arrangements. Not all functionality is available to every user. Affiliated Companies operating under common ownership or control (for example our in-house recruitment business) may use the Platform alongside other employers and recruitment agencies and may be provided with additional operational functionality; this does not affect candidate ownership of personal data, privacy rights, or our data protection obligations.

2. Account & eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for activity on your account; keep your password and any MFA factors safe.

3. Candidate terms

• We do not guarantee employment. Outcomes depend on the decisions of employers and agencies.
• You control whether your profile is searchable and whether contact details can be unlocked. You can change these toggles at any time. Where your profile is visible, it may be seen by authorised recruiters, recruitment agencies, and authorised personnel of Affiliated Companies engaged in recruitment activities, subject to your visibility settings and applicable data protection laws.
• You grant employers and agencies who unlock you a limited, non-exclusive licence to contact you about hiring opportunities. Off-platform storage of your CV beyond what is necessary for a live recruitment process is prohibited.

4. Employer & Agency terms

• You must comply with the Equality Act 2010, right-to-work requirements, and other UK employment law. Discriminatory job ads will be removed.
• You must not bulk-export, scrape, resell, or share candidate data outside SureStartJobs.
• You may use unlocked candidate data only for the recruitment purpose for which it was unlocked. Direct marketing requires separate consent.
• You agree to the per-account Data Processing terms incorporated by reference. We act as a controller of candidate data; you become a separate controller once contact is made.
• Subscription and pay-per-job terms (price, cancellation, refunds) are described on the pricing page and in your billing page.

5. Acceptable use

• No fraud, harassment, or discrimination.
• No automated scraping or reverse-engineering.
• No interference with the security or availability of the platform.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.

6. Content & IP

You keep ownership of CVs, job ads, and other content you upload, and you grant SureStartJobs a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display that content for the operation of the platform. The platform itself, including software and design, is owned bySure Start Jobs Ltd.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SureStartJobs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses arising from third-party hiring decisions. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts for breach of these Terms. Some data may be retained where required by law (e.g. billing records).

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes trigger a re-consent prompt at next sign-in. Older versions are available on request.

10. Pricing, payment & refunds

• Current prices for job credits, credit packs, and any subscription plans are shown on the pricing page and in your billing page. Posting is free up to your plan’s active-job limit; beyond that each publish uses a job credit.
• All payments are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law. Credits and packs are sold as-is, do not expire unless stated, and have no cash value. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.
• All prices shown are exclusive of VAT. Sure Start Jobs Ltd is registered for UK VAT under VAT registration number 524532704. VAT is charged in addition at the prevailing rate where applicable and is shown separately on your invoice or payment receipt. You are responsible for any other taxes due on your purchases. VAT-compliant invoices are available from your billing page.

11. Recruitment data, Super Recruiter & Agency obligations (GDPR)

• Where SureStartJobs (including its in-house “Super Recruiter” team) or an Agency contacts a candidate on behalf of, or to introduce candidates to, an employer, each party must comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Candidate contact details revealed to an Agency or Super Recruiter may be used only for the live recruitment purpose for which they were obtained. They must not be retained beyond that purpose, resold, or re-used for unrelated marketing without a fresh lawful basis.
• Agencies and Super Recruiters act as independent controllers once they contact a candidate, and are responsible for their own privacy notices, lawful basis, and responding to data-subject requests relating to data they hold off-platform.
• Candidates may withdraw from a process and ask to be forgotten at any time; parties must honour such requests for data they control.
• Some information published through the Platform is intended to be publicly available, including employer profiles, company descriptions and job advertisements. Publicly available Platform content may be viewed and used by users of the Platform, including Affiliated Companies operating recruitment businesses, for legitimate recruitment-related purposes, analytics, market research and service improvement. Access to private account information, communications, candidate information and other non-public data is restricted by user permissions and is not made available to Affiliated Companies unless separately authorised and permitted under applicable agreements and data protection laws.

12. Social media & job distribution

• SureStartJobs may promote jobs posted on the platform through its own social media channels (including the SureStartJobs Facebook Page) to increase reach. By publishing a job you grant us permission to share its public details (title, location, salary range, link) in this way.
• Where you connect your own company social account to post jobs, you are responsible for that account, for the accuracy of what is posted, and for complying with the relevant platform’s terms. You can disconnect at any time.
• We are not responsible for the availability, policies, or actions of third-party social platforms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

Schedule A — About the service

This Schedule describes the Platform as at the effective date above. It is not a warranty that any particular feature will be available, and features and prices may change. Where this Schedule and the live pricing page or your billing page differ, the live pages are authoritative for current prices and what is on sale.

Purpose

SureStartJobs is a full UK recruitment platform that brings the job board, applicant tracking system (ATS) and agency workspace together in one place. Candidates apply and track everything from one dashboard, while employers and agencies manage the whole process — from posting a role to placing a candidate — without switching tools.

User types

• Candidates — search and apply for jobs, build or upload a CV, and track every application. Free, always.
• Employers — post jobs, manage applicants and hire through a clear pipeline for their own organisation.
• Agencies — everything employers get, plus a CRM-style workspace, the CV Database (candidate search), referrals and multi-branch support, used to recruit on behalf of, or introduce candidates to, third parties.
• Super Recruiter & platform staff — our in-house recruitment team and internal administrator, support and developer roles that operate, moderate and support the Platform.

Features

For candidates:

• One profile, every application, with live status tracking.
• CV builder and upload, with automatic extraction of skills, licences and qualifications.
• Smart job matching and a daily digest matched to your profile, location and salary expectations.
• In-thread messaging, interview invites and calendar reminders.
• Privacy controls: choose who can see your profile, which emails you receive, and export or delete your data at any time.

For employers and agencies:

• SEO-friendly, filterable job listings with a shareable company page, scheduled posts and reusable templates.
• Applicant tracking — review, message, shortlist, interview and place, with notes and status history per candidate.
• Team roles and a responsible hirer per job so alerts reach the right person.
• Calendar and interviews — phone, in-person or video, with Microsoft Teams built in, and reminders for everyone involved.
• Reports on applications, response times, funnel and hiring performance, per role or across the organisation.
• Agency toolkit — CRM-style workspace, candidate database, referrals and multi-branch support on top of the employer features.
• Embeddable job widget, inbound-email replies, and social distribution of postings.

AI features

Available now:

• AI CV extraction — on upload, we automatically pull out skills, licences and qualifications to pre-fill a candidate profile.
• Smart / relevance job matching and semantic job search across roles.

Coming soon (built but not yet generally available):

• CV Database (agency candidate search) — currently behind a “coming soon” gate while the candidate database is built up. When live, it will include AI semantic candidate matching and “why this match” explanations.
• AI candidate re-ranking within the CV Database.

AI output is provided for guidance only, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and must not be the sole basis for any hiring or application decision. You remain responsible for the decisions you make.

Pricing & packages

All prices are in GBP and exclusive of VAT; VAT is charged in addition at the prevailing UK rate and shown separately on your invoice.Sure Start Jobs Ltd’s VAT registration number is 524532704. Candidates are never charged.

• Candidates — free, always. UK recruitment law prohibits charging candidates for finding work.
• Single Job Ads (one-off, no subscription) — 7-day ad £15, 14-day ad £27, 28-day ad £49.
• Bulk Job Credit Packs (one credit = one 28-day listing, one-off, no subscription) — Lite: 5 credits £199 (valid 3 months); Standard: 15 credits £549 (valid 6 months); Pro: 50 credits £1,499 (valid 12 months). Enterprise packs (50+) on request.
• Coming soon — not yet on sale (agency-only; indicative, subject to change): CV Database Access (per seat) — 7-day £99 (up to 20 CV unlocks per day), Monthly £249 (unlimited unlocks), Recruiter Unlimited (multi-user, custom pricing); Recruiter Plans (monthly subscriptions bundling job listings and CV unlocks) — Lite £349, Standard £649, Pro £1,649, Enterprise (custom).

Payment, refund and credit-expiry terms are in Section 10. In summary, payments are non-refundable except where required by law, credits must be used within their validity period and do not roll over, and subscriptions (when launched) stop at the end of the paid period on cancellation with no partial refund.

Schedule B — Security commitments

We take the security of your data seriously and maintain the following commitments and controls:

• Encryption in transit. All traffic between you and the Platform is encrypted using industry-standard TLS (HTTPS).
• Encryption at rest. Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest.
• Role-based access controls. Access is governed by role-based permissions (organisation owner / admin / member, and internal platform and support roles) and enforced at the database layer with row-level security, so each user and staff member can access only the data appropriate to their role.
• Multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA is supported and is required for organisation administrators.
• Backups & disaster recovery. We take regular automated backups and maintain a documented disaster-recovery process designed to restore service and data with minimal loss.
• Security incident response. We maintain a security incident response process to detect, investigate, contain and remediate security incidents.
• Breach notification. In the event of a personal-data breach, we will notify the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within 72 hours where required by the UK GDPR, and will inform affected users without undue delay.
• Security testing. We periodically review and test the security of the Platform, including security and penetration testing, and remediate findings on a risk-prioritised basis.
