Sure Start Staff are currently recruiting for HGV Class 2 Refuse Drivers to work on behalf of a local authority client within the Environmental Services sector in Bolton.

This is an excellent opportunity for reliable, safety-conscious drivers to join a busy refuse collection team. Previous Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) experience would be an advantage, but is not essential. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months' consecutive HGV driving experience.

Please note: This is a combined driving and loading role. All drivers must be willing to assist the refuse collection team with loading duties when required. On some occasions, drivers may be asked to undertake loading duties instead of driving and will be paid the loading rate of £13.45 per hour for the time spent loading.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicle (RCV/bin lorry).

• Collect household, recycling and commercial waste in line with scheduled routes.

• Assist the refuse collection team with loading duties when required.

• Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.

• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and environmental regulations.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure collections are completed efficiently.

• Maintain a professional and courteous approach when dealing with members of the public.

Essential Requirements

• Valid UK Category C (Class 2) driving licence.

• Valid Driver CPC qualification.

• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.

• Minimum of 6 months' consecutive HGV driving experience.

• Willingness to undertake both driving and loading duties.

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Reliable, punctual, safety-conscious and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable: Previous Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) or refuse collection experience. Training may be provided where appropriate.

Application Requirements

Only candidates who meet the essential licence and experience requirements will be considered. Please ensure your CV clearly details your HGV driving experience, including dates and relevant duties.

Successful applicants will also be required to provide:

• Two work references covering the last two years.

• Proof of relevant driving licences and qualifications.

How to Apply

If you meet the requirements and are happy to undertake both driving and loading duties, please upload your CV.
