The Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager to join our growing recruitment business and take responsibility for driving new business, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the recruitment team.
This is a hands-on sales leadership position suited to someone who understands the recruitment industry and is confident identifying opportunities, winning new clients and developing long-term commercial relationships.
You will play a key role in increasing the company's client base, revenue and market presence across the Commercial & Industrial recruitment sectors.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead from the front, set the standard for business development activity and create a consistent sales culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
Identify and target new prospective clients across Commercial, Industrial, Manufacturing and Logistics sectors.
Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of new business opportunities.
Generate new business through telephone prospecting, email, networking, referrals, LinkedIn, meetings and face-to-face visits.
Arrange and attend client meetings and presentations.
Identify opportunities to introduce temporary and permanent recruitment solutions.
Convert prospects into new trading clients and establish long-term relationships.
Develop opportunities with larger employers and key accounts.
Monitor local market activity and identify opportunities for business growth.
Sales Management
Take ownership of agreed sales and business development targets.
Set clear expectations for sales activity and performance.
Monitor individual and team sales performance against agreed KPIs.
Lead by example through personal sales activity and client acquisition.
Coach and support recruitment consultants with business development activity.
Introduce new ideas, campaigns and strategies to increase sales.
Conduct regular pipeline and sales reviews.
Ensure sales activity is consistently planned and recorded within the company's CRM.
Commercial Responsibility
Negotiate recruitment terms, rates and commercial agreements.
Ensure new business is commercially viable and meets agreed margin expectations.
Support tender, proposal and quotation processes.
Monitor client profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins.
Work closely with Operations and Recruitment to ensure new clients are successfully onboarded and serviced.
Leadership & Development
Grow, Lead, motivate and develop the sales and recruitment team.
Provide coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback.
Help consultants develop their own business development pipelines.
Share successful sales techniques and approaches across the team.
Promote a proactive, accountable and results-driven culture.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced within recruitment, ideally Commercial & Industrial, Logistics, Manufacturing or related sectors.
A proven business developer with a strong track record of winning new clients.
Commercially aware and confident negotiating with decision-makers.
Comfortable making sales calls and generating their own opportunities.
Confident attending face-to-face client meetings.
Target-driven, ambitious and motivated by financial performance.
Able to lead and motivate recruitment consultants.
Organised and disciplined in managing a sales pipeline.
Confident using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
A strong communicator with excellent negotiation skills.
Proactive and capable of working independently without constant supervision.
Someone who leads by example and takes personal responsibility for achieving agreed targets.
