Machine Operator / Production Operative

Training will take place at the Oldham site until November. After training, the role will be based at Bredbury Industrial Park.

You must be able to travel to BOTH Oldham and Bredbury during the training period. Please only apply if you can reliably travel to both locations.

About the Role

Sure Start Staff are currently recruiting for a Machine Operator to join a busy production team on a permanent night shift at Bredbury Industrial Park.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for stable, long-term employment, with the position expected to become permanent following a successful temporary period.

You will be trained to operate an extrusion line producing non-woven cloth, along with carrying out packing, quality checks and general production duties.

The work will involve:

• Fill and top up resin for the extrusion line

• Operate the extrusion line to produce non-woven cloth

• Pack finished products ready for dispatch

• Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet required standards

• Monitor and check the production line

• Print and apply labels to finished products

• Adjust machine speeds and sizes according to different products

• Follow production instructions and company procedures

• Follow Health & Safety procedures at all times

• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area

• Report any machinery faults, defects or issues promptly

Pay and shifts:

• Monday to Friday

• 6:30am to 2.30pm, then 2.30pm to 10.30pm (working on a rotational basis)

• £12.71 per hour, increasing after 12 weeks

• Temporary to permanent

• Immediate start available

Skills/Experience needed:

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking

• Comfortable working shifts

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

• Physically fit and comfortable carrying out production and packing duties

• Comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment

• Detail-oriented with a good eye for quality

• Willing to learn how to operate and adjust production machinery

• Able to follow instructions and Health & Safety procedures

• Able to commute to both Oldham and Bredbury during the training period
